Support for Struggling Screenwriters

I've been entering screenplay contests for a few years but I have found that the industry expectations and formats are changing regularly so it is hard to get that script read. I am hoping those who join this discussion can offer some incite to others like me who are trying to get their screenplays read and considered for optioning.

I know the feeling well. I have not entered any contests, but what I and my writing partner have done is to seek funding to produce our own projects.

Though, not being a writer I have not attended any events. The ShowBiz expo will be in Los Angeles October 17th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In addition to moviebytes you might visit the Writer's Guild of America's site, don't kow the address - possibly www.wga.com, and www.calwriterssfv.com. I'm told there's a protocol you need to conform to when submitting your work. The first thing is to get it registered.

Ravenda; I know that getting a screen play looked at is very hard. Here's some hints that I've discovered that are helpful. Find someone that is crazy about what your script is believeing in. An example is someone who has an issue with lost children or death of a young child. I think that there are many kinds of groups that deal with the loss of children. I's very hard to deal with it as a parent,mate or the other children in the family. family tension and identy loss.

Also, Revenda, have a short presentation that takes a few scencs and draws the listener into wanting to have more than a taste of the screen play.....they can see themselves living out the script. Naturaly we are talking about who want to finacially support you.
